The same applies to abstraction as to many other general terms. Would it not be a mania of the reasoning and ordering mind to want to gather under this name paintings that are quite dissimilar and that have in common only that they do not represent any apparent subject or motif? When painting only claims to illustrate itself and its potentialities, it becomes concrete, pure plastic or chromatic music.
So it is with Christine Nicaise’s painting. Without denying a certain link with the experience of sight, objects or landscapes still remembered and decanted, she intends to move freely in nebular rhythms.
